DIEGO RIVERA (1886–1957)

Rivera redefined Mexican art through epic murals that combined revolutionary politics, indigenous culture, and social realism. His works—like those in Mexico City's Palacio Nacional—champion laborers, history, and identity. Rivera's pieces also appear in MoMA, the Detroit Institute of Arts, and Museo Frida Kahlo, his former home.

"I want to be a voice of the people and reflect their pain and hopes."
